What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive approach to bodywork where the therapist uses a light touch (about the weight of a nickel) to facilitate the release of tension patterns throughout the body and to promote self-healing, whole body health, and performance. It balances the subtle rhythm of the cerebral spinal fluid and enhances the body's ability to self-correct. Generally, this type of therapy is deeply relaxing and can be either used alone or integrated with other therapies. It is good for all ages -- from prenatal to advanced years.
CranioSacral Therapy is not massage. The client lies on a comfortable, padded table in comfortable street clothes in a quiet, private setting. The client does not disrobe.
What does CranioSacral Therapy Address?
CranioSacral Therapy improves your body's ability to take care of you. It helps relieve a wide spectrum of pain, illness and dysfunction, some of which include:
Migraines and Headaches
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Stress and Tension-Related Disorders
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Infant and Childhood Disorders
Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Chronic Fatigue
Fibromyalgia
TMJ Syndrome
Scoliosis
Central Nervous System Disorders
Learning Disabilities
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Even if there is no obvious area of dysfunction, CranioSacral Therapy is a valuable experience that allows your body to enter into a state of deep relaxation and provide support for everyday challenges that often occur. Many people regularly have these sessions as part of their ongoing body maintenance and health.
There are a few contraindications for CranioSacral Therapy -- in essence, any physiological condition in which slight changes in intracranial pressure could negatively affect the client.
